Broken air conditioner during 4th of July weekend

Instead of relying on the air conditioning to cool us off, we were forced to spend a lot more time swimming in the lake.

Every fourth of July, my family takes a trip down to our camp on the lake. We have a motor boat, canoes, a fire pit, and endless hiking trails at our disposal. We spend the entire weekend grilling hot dogs and hamburgers, taking turns on the water skis, and basking in the sun. It’s my favorite part of the weekend. Even though our camp only sleeps about 8 people comfortably, we usually cramp in about fifteen family members! It’s one of the greatest holidays of the year, in my opinion. However, one year, our air conditioning broke! The entire camp was hot and humid. Usually we are shuffling in and out to enjoy the sunshine, then get a break inside to cool down. Without the air conditioning, we spent almost every waking minute outside. It was even hotter inside our camp than it was outside. Of course it was a holiday, so all of the local heating and cooling companies were closed. We decided that it wasn’t worth paying an emergency fee, and we were just going to have to live without air conditioning for a few days. Instead of relying on the air conditioning to cool us off, we were forced to spend a lot more time swimming in the lake. Pretty much everyone hung out by the dock all day long. Usually, I would consider the lack of air conditioning a complete travesty! Luckily, it only brought us all closer together. Don’t get me wrong, we got the air conditioning fixed as soon as the local heating and cooling companies opened back up again, but I still really enjoyed the weekend. I am already looking forward to next year.
